John Philip

John Philip, 94, Garrett, died December 8, 2022 at Meadow View Nursing Center. Born November 2, 1928 in Brothersvalley Twp., son of Samuel and Mary (Nider) Philip. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Samuel and Charles Philip, and sister Ann Snyder. Survived by his wife of 69 years, the former Blanche Berkley; children: John Philip, Jr., Samuel (Connie) Philip, Jocelyn (Gary) Shaffer, Nancy (Robert) Platt, Douglas (Brenda) Philip, and Larry (Rebecca) Philip; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was a graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School and was a US Army Korean War veteran. He was a retired dairy farmer and former employee of Riggs Industries. Member of VFW Post 7295, Berlin. He enjoyed woodworking, carving, playing guitar, dancing, and radio controlled airplanes. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Rev. Jim Kunes officiating.
