After Don’s service the couple returned to the Pittsburgh area and raised their family. In the mid 70’s, the Carters began moving for Don’s work, living in Florida and then later Maryland. They returned to the Pittsburgh area in the 90‘s. During this time, Judy was employed in several diverse job positions; for a drafting company, a dental assistant, a logistics coordinator and as a purchasing agent. Judy and Don moved to the Shanksville/Stonycreek area in 1990. Don continued his work from Stonycreek until retirement. They both became active in the Unity United Church of Christ and participating in local community activities. Judy was an avid homemaker, hostess and caregiver to many of her and Don’s relatives.
