K. DeWayne "Bum" Berkebile

K. DeWayne “Bum” Berkebile, 87, Hooversville, died  Oct. 28, 2018 at home. Born Jan. 21, 1931 in Hooversville son of Kenneth Paul and Josephine (Berkebile) Berkebile. Preceded in death by parents, wife the former Dolores McKenna, and brothers: Terry and Gene Berkebile. Survived by his sons: Scott married to the former Susan Villa, Johnstown, and Kevin and life partner Diane, Lincoln University; grandchildren: Bryan (Dawn), Thomas, and Brandon Berkebile; great grandson: Kolten; brother: Wallace Berkebile, Stoystown; and sister: Denise (Dave) Laugerman, York. He was a 1949 graduate of Hooversville High School and a Korean War Army Veteran. Retired from the Carpenters Union Local 1419. Active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hooversville, and the Hooversville Lions Club where he was a Melvin Jones Fellow. Member of Hooversville Historical Society, Hooversville V.F.W., Stoystown American Legion, Somerset Lodge 358 F. & A.M., and lifelong volunteer to his community. He was an avid Steeler fan, and golfer. Former girls basketball coach at North Star High School and Hooversville Borough Council Member. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Hooversville. Lions service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hooversville. Rev. Felicia Swartz officiating. Interment P.O.S. of A. Cemetery, Hooversville. Graveside Military Rites by the Somerset County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 93, Hooversville, PA 15936.
