Karen Ann (Stanczyk) Diest

Karen Ann Diest, 66, of Louisa, VA, formerly of Berlin, died Feb. 13, 2023 at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring. Born Feb. 1, 1957 in Somerset, daughter of Alice (Stanczyk) Mankie. Preceded in death by her husband Charles H. Diest, Jr. Survived by mother Alice; daughter Sheila Reed; son Jason Diest and fiancée Kate Rehard; grandchildren: Nicholas, Kristi, Gabrielle, Nathan, Kristian, Kaitlyn, Kayden, and Kendall; great granddaughters: Avery and Aspen; brother Ralph Nelson; and sisters Mary (Jim) Hollenbeck, Rebecca (Dave) Brooks, Allison Mankie, and Amber (Tim) Gross. She was a caregiver for adults and a daycare worker for children. Member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Berlin, the Citrus American Italian Club, and was a former 4-H leader. She loved reading, craftwork, baking, cooking, camping, and taking care of others. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Jay Shaffer Officiating. Interment Berlin I.O.O.F.
