LaVerne (Rickels) Mowry

LaVerne Mowry, 96, Stoystown, died April 3, 2024 at Somerset Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Born Sept. 25, 1927 in Drew, MS, daughter of Eunice and Eloise Rickels. Preceded in death by parents, husband Calvin Mowry, and daughter Carol Mowry. Survived by son Cal Jr.; granddaughters: Lynne Iverson and Nikki (Bobby) Smith; and great grandchildren: Kira, Taylin, and Isabella Smith, and Alex, Ashley, Alyssa, and Aubree Kostyk. She was a former garment worker. Member of First Christian Church, Somerset, and New Baltimore Sportsman’s Club. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
