Lela G. (Wayne) Smith

Lela G. Smith, 76, Fairhope, died October 25, 2025 at home. Born February 15, 1949 in Confluence, daughter of Jack J. and Evelyn M. (Artice) Wayne. Preceded in death by parents, husband Robert A. Smith, sisters Leanna Glover n Jeanie Klink, twin sister Linda Detrick, brothers Robert and Charles Wayne, and many others that she loved very much. Survived by children: Jeffrey R. Broadwater, Berlin, Susan (Jim) Brick, Fairhope, and Robert E. (Edna) Smith, Masontown; 10 grandchildren; many great grandchildren, sister Ina Mae Wolfe of WV; and aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was a 1967 graduate of Laurel Highlands High School. Lela enjoyed spending time with her family and her many animals over the years, going on family trips when she could, and loved collecting angels. Lela spent her time at home taking care of her husband and her family. Her entire family would like to thank UPMC Hospice for the wonderful support and care we received during this difficult time, as well as all the many other wonderful caregivers that cared for her over the past few years. “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give” William S.
