Leo Joseph "Woody" Bender III

Leo Joseph “Woody” Bender III, 69, of Hooversville, died Oct. 15, 2020 at UPMC Altoona. Born Feb. 22, 1951 in Johnstown, son of Leo Jr. and Grace (Stevanus) Bender. Preceded in death by parents and sisters Grace Gindlesperger and Dianah Bender. Survived by his children: William (Jennifer) Bender, Evan (Anna) Bender, and Stacy (Ronnie) Spiker; grandchildren: Dylon, Austin, Natalie, Zackary, Tyson, Maxx, and Alex Bender, and Sabrina, Amber, and Katelyn Burkett; great grandchildren: Brayden, Mya, Emily, Coltin, and Olivia Boyer, and Jensen Beeman; and sisters: Betty Rhoads and Lois Drenning. He was a graduate of Forbes High School and retired from Johnstown Specialty Castings. Member of Hooversville Church of the Brethren, Quemahoning Rod and Gun Club, and the Steelworkers Union. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outside, working on the house, and spending time with his grandchildren. No viewing or service at Leo’s request.
