Lester L. Coslic

Lester L. Coslic, 83, Berlin, died Jan. 11, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born April 20, 1937 in Brothersvalley Twp., son of John and Gladys (Hutzell) Coslic. Preceded in death by parents, brother Ernest, and infant brother Melvin. Survived by his wife of 60 years, the former LaVerne Suder; son Daniel, Anchorage, AK; daughter Susan married to William Miller, Jr., Berlin; grandchildren: Justin Coslic, Steven (Hillary) Warrington, Brandon (Tara) Miller, and Blake Miller; great grandchildren: Callen, Brooke, and McCoy Miller; brother Terry Coslic and wife Nang; several nieces and nephews; and loving dog Molly Jean. He was a 1955 graduate of Shanksville-Stonycreek High School. He was a US Army veteran where he served as an MP, retired Pennsylvania State Trooper with 28 ½ years of service, and a longtime employee of Deaner Funeral Homes. Member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Berlin, serving as a former president of the Consistory, leader of the youth group, Sunday school teacher, sexton, committee member, and Living Waters Church Camp Counselor. He was a former Berlin Scout Master and attended the Philmont Scout Ranch several times. Former member of the Berlin Lions Club, where he served as secretary and treasurer for many years. Founding member of the Berlin Food Pantry, served on the Berlin Playground Committee for many years, member of P.A.R.S.E. and served as Berlin Mayor twice. A dedicated and loyal husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was recognized and presented many awards from the various organizations while serving his community. Hobbies included gardening, woodworking, and a love of travel. We will greatly miss his sense of humor, love of people, and his pat answer “I’m 60/50.” Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Viewing from 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Church of Christ, Berlin. Masks and social distancing required. Rev. Dr. David Williams officiating. Interment Berlin I.O.O.F.
