Lester M. Miller

Lester Merle Miller, 89, Friedens, passed away on September 29, 2020 at Siemon’s Lakeview Manor.  He was born December 28, 1930 in Somerset, son of Richard C. and Elizabeth (Meyers) Miller. Preceded in death by parents, wife the former Ruth Arlene Walker, brothers: Clyde and Neil Miller, sisters: Gladys (Ray G.) Spangler and Dolores (William) Eckman, and brother-in-law Ray Spangler.  Survived by children: Sally Ann Miller and husband Bob Compton, Winchester, VA, Gregory David Miller and wife Lisa, King George, VA, and Douglas Allen Miller and partner Michelle Campbell, Hollidaysburg; daughter-in-law Anne Miller, Oakdale; grandchildren:  Anna-Marie Miller, Andy Miller, and Alex Miller; sisters-in-law: Ruby Miller and Nancy Miller; two step granddaughters: Catherine (Raymond) Torres, Austin, TX, and Susan (David) Reeves, Ponte Vedra, FL; and seven step great grandchildren. Lester was a 1948 graduate of Somerset Area High School.  He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Beale. He was a member of the Friedens Volunteer Fire Department  and served as Fire Chief as well as was a member of Somerset County Firemen’s Assoc. Prior to retirement he was employed  by Gilmour Mfg. He was also a member of Friedens Lutheran Church.  Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Friedens Lutheran Church. The funeral service will be live streamed on Deaner Funeral Home’s Facebook Page. Rev. John Barichivich officiating. Masks and social distancing are recommended.
