Mariel DeRoo Haacke

Mariel DeRoo Haacke, 88, of Somerset, formerly of Ridgefield, CT, died May 19, 2024 at UPMC Altoona. Born November 6, 1935 in Moline, IL, daughter of Herbert Rollin and Alma Ione (Adams) DeRoo. Preceded in death by parents and husband of 59 years, Donald Ford Haacke. Survived by her daughter Elizabeth married to Sean Thomas Ibinson; grandchildren: Lauren (Samuel) Goetjen-Livengood, Jason Olivares, Ashley (Austin) Carr, and Sean Thomas (Allison) Ibinson; great grandchildren: Jackson, Jameson, Owen, Ellieana, Charlie Grace, and Evelyn; and brother John (Vicki) DeRoo. She was a graduate of Moline High School and the University of Colorado-Boulder. She was a high school English teacher, an account executive for an advertising agency, and an insurance agent, all in Ridgefield, CT. Member of First Congregational Church, Garden Club, and many other civic organizations in Ridgefield, CT. She loved to travel, read books, and spend time with her family.
