Mary Elizabeth (Platt) Bittner

Mary Elizabeth Bittner, 95, Berlin, died May 15, 2020 at home. Born Feb. 20, 1925 in Berlin, daughter of Henry and Goldie (Fritz) Platt. Preceded in death by parents; husband Harold W.; brothers: Donald, Henry, Richard, and Charles Platt; and sister Kathryn Landis. Survived by children: Bonnie (John) Gary, Timothy (Patricia) Bittner, and Larry (Patricia) Platt; grandson William Gary; brother James Platt; and sister Bernadine “Dolly” Glotfelty. She was a graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School. Member of Berlin Alliance Church, where she was on the prayer chain and formerly sang in the choir. She loved to paint by numbers and had painted several hundred to give as gifts for friends and family. She also enjoyed puzzles, reading, and watching her favorite baseball team, the Pittsburgh Pirates. Due to the current health concerns, a private viewing and service will be held. The Funeral Service will be broadcast live on Deaner Funeral Home’s Facebook Page Monday at 7 p.m. Rev. Jim Kunes officiating. Interment Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
