Mary Louise (Felten) Mowery

Mary Louise Mowery, 92, Davidsville, formerly of Shanksville, died Jan. 10, 2021 at Laurel View Village. Born March 12, 1928 in Stonycreek Twp., daughter of Harry and Margaret (Glessner) Felten. Preceded in death by parents, husband Robert J. “Monk”, sister Kathryn Sivits, niece Sharon Friberg, and nephew Keith Firle. Survived by her brother- and sister-in-law James and Esther Mowry; nephews Jimmy (Jamie) Sukenik, Johnny Sukenik, and Robert Mowry; niece Maria Mowry; great nephew Jaxon Sukenik; and special family friend Phillip Hostetler. She was a 1946 graduate of Shanksville Stonycreek High School. She worked for the school as a secretary before being employed by the First National Bank of PA, Shanksville branch, for 25 years. Lifetime member of Unity United Church of Christ, Berlin, where she sang in the choir for many years. Member of the Berlin Area Historical Society and the Shanksville Firemen’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed working in her garden, bird watching, embroidery, and baking, especially her delicious Christmas sand tarts. Family will receive friends Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until the private service at 1:30 p.m. at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Masks and social distancing required. The service will be live streamed on the Deaner Funeral Home Facebook page. Rev. Jay Shaffer officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park.
