Obituary
Mary Jane Carmean Palinkas, 74, Somerset, died May 24, 2023 at The Patriot surrounded by her family. Born February 23, 1949 in Somerset, daughter of Clarence and Hazel (Stutzman) Swank. Preceded in death by parents and brother Terry Swank. Survived by her husband of 26 years Michael W. Palinkas; son Kevin Carmean; daughter Stacey (Timothy) Papinchak; and granddaughters Samantha Carmean (Chris Wharton) and Allison Carmean. She was a 1967 graduate of Somerset High School. She was a former LPN at Somerset State Hospital and retired as a corrections officer at SCI Laurel Highlands. She enjoyed gardening, playing Bingo at the Senior Center, watching Pittsburgh sports, and walking her beloved dog, Angel. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brotherton Pike Cemetery.
