Michael J. Matieszyn

Michael J. Matieszyn, 63, Somerset, was called home to Heaven to be with his Savior Sept. 6, 2020. Born August 27, 1957 in Meyersdale, son of Michael and Nellie Mae (Bowman) Matieszyn. Preceded in death by his mother, and father and mother-in-law Joseph “Jay” and Mardelle Peck. Survived by his wife of 41 years, Karen Lynn (Peck) Matieszyn; father Michael; sisters Rose (Mike) Stottlemyer, Grafton WV, Rebecca and Donna Matieszyn, both of Berlin; brothers Dale (Vicki), Berlin, and David (fiancée Donna Delecki), WV; sister-in-law Linda Peck, Somerset; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was deeply loved by his wife and family. He loved helping people and being a blessing to whomever he could. He was a kind and generous man. Mike left a career of being an insurance agent for 19 years to go full time with “Last Generation Ministries” along with his wife Karen. They traveled as evangelists for 38 years singing Southern Gospel Music and preaching the Word of God. They touched and saw many lives changed for the Lord. He was an accomplished guitar player, sound technician, mechanic… a very talented man. He loved people and would pray and witness to people every chance he got. We have comforting knowledge to know we will see you again, Mike, and absent from the body you are present with the Lord. He attended Somerset Church of God. Family will receive friends at the church from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Additional viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. The funeral service will be live streamed on Deaner Funeral Home's Facebook Page. Pastor H. Dean Sisk, Pastor M.D. Herring, and Pastor Michael Stottlemyer (his nephew) officiating. Masks and social distancing are recommended. Interment Pine Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Somerset Church of God, 1020 W. Main St., Somerset, PA 15501.
