Neil Walker Obituary

Neil Ross Walker, 85 of Somerset and Avon Park, FL died June 18, 2024 at home. Born Dec. 2, 1938 in Lambertsville son of the late John Ross and Rosalie June (Spangler) Walker. Survived by his wife the former Mary Catherine (Dore); children: Michael Ross Walker (Sheri) and Ann Kathryn Richards (Michael); step children: Joseph Gontis (Doreen) and Denise Botwright; sister Judy Williams (Frank); grandchildren: Haley Burns (Travis), Sarah Minick (Andrew), Jessica Renner (Samuel), Kelly Flowers (Liam), Darya Walker and Kate Walker; step grandchildren: Heather Conway (Ryan), Jolyn Gontis , Taylor Gontis (Michael Miller), and Michaelane Barilla (Anthony); great grandchildren: Delainey, Nora, Cheyanne, Audrey, Anthony, Silas, Tristan, Hunter, and Rylee; step great grandchildren: Hadley, Ivan, and Maisie. He graduated from Shanksville-Stoncreek H.S. in 1956 and Thiel College in 1960. He served his country in the US Army from 1961-1963 where he was stationed at Fort Eustis. Neil had a long career with Metropolitan Life Insurance as a Sales Manager, followed by a second career in advertising sales. He was a Committee member and Chairman of Cambria County War Memorial Basketball Tournament in 1970’s and early 80’s. Family will receive friends from 12 noon until Memorial Service at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29 at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Donations may be made in his honor to 1 Laurel Highlands Hospice Care, 970 Franklin St., Johnstown, PA 15905.
