Paul Simmons

Paul Simmons, 92, of Somerset, formerly of Berlin, died November 2, 2023 at Heritage Ridge Senior Living, Johnstown. Born July 16, 1931 in Berlin, son of Frank and Mary (Petro) Simmons. Preceded in death by parents, four brothers, six sisters, and infant great grandson Zephaniah Simmons. Survived by his wife of 63 years, the former Betty Jean Onstead; sons: Rodney (Sue), Paul D. (Connie), and Michael (Marcie) Simmons; nine grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. He was a 1949 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School and was a Korean War Air Force Veteran. Paul was a self-employed truck driver. Member of Faith Lutheran Church, Somerset, and American Legion Post 445, Berlin. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. Kathleen Stump officiating.
