Richard Douglas “Rick” Webreck, 69, Berlin, died January 1, 2022 at UPMC Somerset. Born April 24, 1952 in Somerset, son of Rose Ann (Will) Webreck of Berlin and the late Richard M. Webreck. Also preceded in death by father and mother-in-law James and Florence Sarver. Survived by his wife of 47 years the former Cathy Sarver; children: Kara married to Greg Cornell, Krista married to Tom Koback, and Matthew married to the former Melissa Schrock; grandchildren: Brooke Cornell and fiance Zane Horne, Hunter and Laurel Cornell, and Piper and Finley Webreck; sisters and brothers: Cindy, Dennis, Brian (Teena), and Keith Webreck, and Jeanne (Tom) Lowry; special cousin Jimmy Webreck; and many special friends. He was a 1970 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He was a Vietnam War Army veteran where he served as a dog handler with the military police. Retired Lieutenant from SCI Somerset and a former employee of Croner Inc. and Walter’s Tire Service. Member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Mountain Field and Stream Club, N.R.A., and Berlin American Legion. Former Berlin Brothersvalley School Board member. He kept the family farm going after his father was no longer able. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren and he enjoyed attending their sporting events and animal shows. He loved hunting with his special buddies. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin where Vigil Service will be held at 6 p.m. Masks are recommended. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Macdonaldton. Rev. Stephen Shin OFM Cap. and Rev. James Dugan Celebrants. Committal church cemetery.
