Robert John Steck

Robert John Steck, 61, Stoystown, died Feb. 24, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born Jan. 12, 1958 in Johnstown, son of Robert Joseph and Joanne (Jury) Steck. Preceded in death by father, and grandparents Joseph and Mary Steck, and Gladys Jury. Survived by his mother, of Hollsopple; loving wife of 37 years the former Dianna Jock; brother Michael E. Steck, Hollsopple; sisters: Cynthia (David) Phillips, Barb (Bob) Jones, both of Johnstown, and Susan Steck, Carolina Beach, NC; and niece Mary Nora Martin, Myrtle Beach, SC. Bob was a 1977 graduate of Greater Johnstown VoTech. He was a professional fly tyer whose work was available in some of the finest Catskill Fly Shops and displayed at the Catskill Fly Fishing Museum. Bob loved all sorts of outdoor activites. He took great pride in maintaining his property and especially decorating it for Christmas. Bob also loved fly fishing and especially camping at Penns Creek. Bob enjoyed feeding deer, turkey, and squirrels in his back yard, sharing his annual 4th of July firework display, riding his Harley, going to car shows, and smoking fine cigars. Bob was kind, generous, and could always be relied upon to help a friend in need. Bob fought a courageous battle with a very aggressive cancer in his final days. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Hooversville where service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday. Interment Grandview Cemetery, Westmont.
