Ronald Wilson Young, 71 of Shanksville, died June 26, 2020 at home. Born Sept. 6, 1948 in Shanksville son of Jay and Marion (Wilson) Young. Preceded in death by parents, wife the former Jean Rhodes, and son Michael. Survived by son Eric “Slippy” (Ronda) Young, grandson Jordan Young, brothers John and Carl “Lips” Young, sister Carolyn Lauer, best friend Bob (Kathy) Stull, and step great grandson Kayson “Beep” Tunstall. He was a 1967 graduate of Shanksville-Stonycreek High School and a Vietnam War Army Veteran. Retired from P.B.S. Coals. Member of Shanksville United Methodist Church, Stoystown American Legion Post 257, and New Baltimore Sportsman’s Club. He enjoyed hunting, and watching his son and grandson play sports. No viewing or service at Ron’s request. Interment Somerset Co. Memorial Park. Instead of flowers, contributions may be given to Shanksville Youth Baseball, c/o Brooke Thiele, 127 Pine Rd., Friedens, PA 15541. Arrangements entrusted to Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown.
