Ruth Elaine (Stuck) Whitacre

Ruth Elaine Whitacre, 84, Berlin, died October 4, 2025 at Somerset Senior Living. Born June 30, 1941 in Johnstown, daughter of Ralph Henry and Frances Pearl (Maust) Stuck. Preceded in death by parents, loving husband of 20 years, William R. Whitacre, and nephew Brent Stuck. Survived by her brother Bruce (Beverly) Stuck; nieces: Brenda (Thomas) Wente and their children Aidan and Elise, and Rebecca (Michael) Haydel and their children Kate and Colton; step daughter Michele (Frank) Whitacre James; grandsons Jason Addair and Connor James; and numerous cousins. She was a 1959 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School. She studied nursing in Cumberland and received her RN degree in 1962. She was a long time active member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Berlin, where she participated in the Chancel Choir and played the bells and piano-organ duets at Sunday services. Ruth served as an RN in Pittsburgh, Somerset, and Berlin and graciously cared for her father, mother and husband in their time of need. The family would like to thank the staff at Somerset Senior Living and ViaQuest Hospice for their compassion and care, and her numerous friends in the Berlin area. She loved her back porch and proudly displayed her joy of living by the phrase “FAITH, FAMILY, and FRIENDS”, and hosted numerous family picnics and dinners at her home in Berlin. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Church of Christ, Berlin. Rev. David Creamer officiating. Interment Upper Springs Cemetery, Springs.
