Shelby F. (Deffenbaugh) McCoy

Shelby F. McCoy, 65, Friedens, went to sleep and awoke in the presence of her Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at home.  Born October 21, 1959 in Somerset, she was the daughter of the late Gerald E. and Patricia R. (Fyock) Deffenbaugh.  She was the wife of Roger L. McCoy for 48 years on June 26. Shelby was a 1977 graduate of Somerset High School.  She was an ordained minister in the Church of the Brethren and pastored congregations in both Western PA and Middle PA districts of the COB.  She also served on the Western PA District Board and Camp Harmony Board of Directors.  She possessed a spirit of creativity which was expressed in ceramics and other craft projects. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Lacey, wife of Ryan Yinkey, of Duncansville and their children, Noah, Ellianah, and Harper; a brother, Larry, husband of Karen Deffenbaugh, of Friedens; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Erbe of Michigan.  She was also preceded in death by three siblings, Marie Erbe, Wayne and David Deffenbaugh. Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Somerset Church of the Brethren, 606 Plank Rd., Somerset. Dr. Larry Deffenbaugh officiating. Private interment at Maple Spring Brethren Cemetery.
