Shirley Jane (Bauman) Pyle

Shirley Jane Pyle, 89 of Somerset formerly of Stoystown, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, on November 7, 2020 at the Patriot, Somerset. She was born on November 26, 1930 in Zimmerman, daughter of Ray and Clara (Meyers) Bauman and stepmother Hilda (Deeter) Bauman.  Preceded in death by parents, husband H. James (Jim) Pyle in 2014, infant son, Rodney, sisters Betty Miller, Hazel Pritts and Audrey Hawkins.  Survived by sister Donna Rae (Bauman) Campbell; sons: Douglas, married to the former Cathy Murray, Greencastle , and Jeffrey, married to the former Amy McClintock, Friedens; grandchildren: Serena Uglow, Kelly (Mark) Bowman, Stacy (Woody) Williamson, Adam Pyle and partner Dan Barket, and Julie (Jeremy) Fleming; great grandchildren: Brianna Uglow, Brooklyn and Tyler Williamson, Kayla Reed, Sommer Bowman and McKenna Fleming.  She was a 1948 graduate of Somerset High School. She worked various jobs throughout her life, but her passion was in being a mother and friend, and in serving her Lord at her church, St. Paul’s U.C.C., Stoystown.  She deeply loved and enjoyed her family, friends, and pets. She loved animals of all kinds and often fed the wildlife and even took in a few strays that became close family to her and Jim. She was also an active member of the Altoona- Johnstown Tres Dias.  Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Additional viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the funeral home, followed by a service at 11 a.m. across the street at St. Paul’s U.C.C. Stoystown. Per state mandate, masks and social distancing are required.
