Terry L. Kauffman, 77, of Windber, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026. He was loved by many family members and friends. Terry was born on October 15, 1948 in Bedford, son of Charles Earl and Regina “Jean” Baughman Kauffman. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenny, sister Connie, and son-in-law James Yock. Terry was married to Cynthia “Cindy” Shima in 1976. While they divorced, they remained great friends and supportive of their family. Survived by Cindy, MD, and their three children: Andree Michele Yock, Windber, Elizabeth Ann Kauffman, Bowie, MD, and Terence Shima Kauffman, Windber; beloved grandchildren: Cody Yock, Anthony Stockstill, Iniyah Kauffman and Wyatt Kauffman Theys; sister Patty Blasko and husband George, Somerset; brother Rick Kauffman and wife Jackie, Schellsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Terry was raised in Imler, and was a 1966 graduate of Chestnut Ridge High School. Terry was proud of being named “Athlete of the Year” in high school and supporting his graduating class. He served in the US Navy then lived and worked in Maryland until his retirement and return to PA in 2006 to live until his death. Terry proudly wore his experience and status as a Vietnam Era Veteran. Additionally, he cherished his coaching and the impact he had on the lives of boys and girls through coaching local basketball, softball and soccer; then the years he was able to spend coaching the Bowie Mustangs in the Washington Area Girls Soccer League (WAGS). Terry was a son, a brother, a hero, a husband, dad, Pap, uncle and a friend. He always displayed a very dry sense of humor for which his mother-in-law, Lillian Shima, would look at him ask if he was being funny or serious. Terry has faced some serious health issues over the last years but kept hanging on trying to be the best support to his children and grandchildren. He is loved and missed. A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. DeanerFuneralsAndCremations.com
