Thelma Pile Miller, 96, of Somerset, died July 26, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the home of her son. Born May 16, 1927, in Friedens daughter of Russell M. and Ruth E. (Carver) Pile. Preceded in death by parents; brothers: Dalton, Delphin, Cletus, William, and Karl Pile; and sisters: Dorothy Bittner and Kathryn Carter. Survived by her husband of 71 years Robert L. Miller; children: Sally (Bruce) Whiteman of Hollywood, MD, Melanie (Bill) McVeagh of Flourtown, Mark (Pam) Miller of Somerset, and Jane Miller of Oakmont; grandchildren: Carolyn (Johnny) Cabrera, Katherine, Sasha (Alivia), Igor, Christina (Joel Guenther), Elisa, and Carolina McVeagh, and Kara, Laura, and Alex Miller; great grandchildren: Hayden, William, and Matthew; sisters Helen “Jean” Hittie and Patricia Gebhart; sisters in-law Patricia and Norma Pile; and special caregivers: Jane Baker, Linda Mancini, Mickie Odvar, and Robin Pyle. She was a proud 1945 graduate of Shanksville-Stonycreek High School. Member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Friedens 4-H Club, Friedens Mother’s Club, Somerset O.E.S., and former vice president of Somerset V.I. S. She enjoyed antiquing, baking, sewing, reading, and spending time with family. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Friedens Lutheran Church where there will be viewing from 12 noon until service at 1 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Edward V.
