Velma Marie Putman, 85, of Stoystown, died Sept. 28, 2020 at Countryside Personal Care Home, Friedens. Born June 9, 1935 in Quemahoning Twp., daughter of Paul and Louise (McClellan) Bentz. Preceded in death by parents, husband Lindsay, and sister Sandy Bentz. Survived by sons: Mark married to the former Marlene Phillips, Scott married to the former Marlene Hostetler, and Brian married to the former Karen Walker; grandchildren: Elissa (Christian) Boyd, Bethany (Brandon) Delano, Brittany Johnston (Quinton Dziabo), Jonathan Putman (Elizabeth Andrews ), Kara Putman, Jann (Alan) Motchenbaugh, Julie (Scott) Johnson, Breann Putman (Chad Codispoti), Jarrod Putman (Stella Shaffer), and Kelli (Austin) Swihura; great grandchildren: Ayden and Maddox Boyd, Owen and Griffin Delano, Abigail and Grace Motchenbaugh, and Rhett Codispoti; sister Eileen Packer; and brother Gary (Colleen) Bentz. She was a 1953 graduate of Forbes High School and a former Teacher’s Aide in North Star East Elementary for 40 years. Member of Kantner United Methodist Church, where she was involved with the children’s dept. for many years. Former member of Stoyestown Historical Society and Stoystown Lioness Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Special thanks to Ginger and Peggy for their care, and Justine and the staff at Countryside. Family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Kantner United Methodist Church, where a private service will follow. Masks and social distancing are recommended. Rev.
