Verna Elaine (Shaffer) Boyer

Verna Elaine Boyer, 94, formerly of Hooversville died January 24, 2025 at Windber Hospice. Born February 27, 1930 in Stoystown, daughter of Homer and Jennie (Gindlesperger) Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents, husband Kyle “Kelly”, son David, brothers Roy, John, Robert, Fred, Paul, Carl, and Donald Shaffer, and sisters Helen Darr, Lois Litzinger, and Myrtle Zimmerman. Survived by daughter Karen married to Mervin Vuckovich, Windber; daughter-in-law Nancy married to James Krug, Manns Choice; grandsons: Matthew (Jennifer) Boyer, Jeffrey (Christi-Anna) Boyer, Jonathan (Emily) Boyer, and Michael (Corissa) Vuckovich; great grandchildren: Thomas, Gerrit, Carissa, Noah, Paxton, Emmaline, Houston, Maeven, Mason, Dylan, Natalie, and Finn Boyer, Nora and Nolan Vuckovich; and great grandchildren: Walker, Bradley, and Preston Boyer. She was a 1947 graduate of Hooversville High School. She was a former seamstress at several factories and continued making quilts for family and friends. She was a loving grandmother, often cooking and baking for them. She was a devout Christian who loved the Lord. Family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Cremation Center, 976 Barn St., Hooversville, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Grandson Jeffrey Boyer officiating.
