Wayne K. Darr, 90, Berlin, died Dec. 19, 2018 at Meadow View Nursing Center. Born July 19, 1928 in Stonycreek Twp., son of Fred and Gladys (Knepper) Darr. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Fred and Robert, and brothers-in-law Robert Musser and Dr. Donald Lowry. Survived by his wife of 70 years the former Ann Rayman; children: Deborah married to John Hartz, Mt. Pleasant, D. Jane married to William VanTuyl, West Fork, AK, David married to the former Joan Hillegass, Berlin, Kathy married to Gilbert Glessner, Mt. Pleasant, James married to the former Jean Ann McCullar, Berlin, Gerald married to the former Carol Trulick, Berlin, and Linda and friend James Ware, Friedens; grandchildren: Brian, Alicia, Lucas, Jennifer, Lisa, Dana, Matthew, Jackie, Jeremy, Christie, Bradley, Adam, Joseph, and Eric; 24 great grandchildren; sisters: Lois Lowry, Phyllis Musser, and Barbara (Dan) Manges; and sisters-in-law Lois and Mary Eileen Darr. He was a Korean War Army Veteran, Founder and President of Darr Construction, Berlin, and served as Berlin Borough Electrician for 50 years. Member of Berlin Brethren Church where he had served as a Deacon, Berlin Lions Club where he was a Melvin Jones Fellow, 60 year member of Berlin Fire Company where he was a former Assistant Fire Chief, Somerset Co. Home Builders Assoc., Somerset Aero Club, and Berlin Historical Society. He owned his own airplane, loved flying, and passed that love on to a son and two grandsons. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and traveling. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where a Fire Co. Service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Berlin Brethren Church. Rev. Thomas Sprowls officiating. Interment Brotherton Pike Cemetery.
