Wendell O. Bowman

Wendell O. Bowman, 85, Fairhope, died November 27, 2025 at Meadow View Nursing Center. Born October 11, 1940 in Meyersdale, son of Clarence and Viola (Landis) Bowman. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Luther and Sheldon Bowman, and brother-in-law Herb Long. Survived by his wife of 49 years, the former Carol Long; brother Clifford Bowman; nieces and nephews: Peg (Chuck) Shuck, Jim, Rodney, and Craig (Sylvia) Bowman, Deb (Dave) McKenzie, Cindy (Kevin) Heselbach, Megan (Bryan) Wilson, Melissa, Matt, Chad (Nicole), Todd (Rachel), Carrie, Brenden (Ilsa), Darnell, Kelsey, Derrick, Janelle, and Jordan Long, Christina (Andy) Sines, and Kendra (Ike) Inea; brothers-in-law: Tom (Barb), Wayne (Paula), Dave, and Owen (Cindy) Long; sister-in-law Susie Long; and special friends Roy and Lana Vena.  He was a graduate of Meyersdale High School, Frostburg State University, and Towson University. He was a high school teacher and principal in Glen Burnie, MD, and then became the principal at Meyersdale High School until his retirement in 2000. Member of Berlin Brethren Church, Meyersdale Elks, Meyersdale Lodge #554 F. & A.M., the Shriners, and the Harrisburg Consistory. He enjoyed riding horses, training dogs, hunting, and working at Foggy Mountain Farm. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Rev. Tom Sprowls officiating.
