William Thomas Cooney, Sr. 74, Berlin, formerly of Somerset, died April 26, 2018 at Meadow View Nursing Center. Born Nov. 17, 1943 in Queens, NY, son of John and Mathilda (Cluxton) Cooney. Preceded in death by parents; sisters Irene Cooney, Joan Rattiger, and Marion Fickeissen; and brothers John, Joseph, and Robert Cooney. Survived by children: William Jr. and fiancée Carol Opel, Accident, MD, Michael (Kara) Cooney, Nashville, TN, Heidi Cooney, Greensburg, and Jennifer Cooney and fiance Boyd Lewis, Berlin; grandchildren: Nicholas (Amanda) Cooney, Kyle (Teisha) Cooney, Zachary (Autumn) Cooney, Lakyn Cooney, and Zander and Aerilyn Lewis; great grandchildren: Conner, Haleigh, Kaleb, Cayo, Aubrey, and Waylon; sister Lorraine Fregeau, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a driver for Sheer Oil for many years. He enjoyed smoking his pipe. At William’s request, there will be no viewing or service.
