William N. "Bill" Hay

William N. “Bill” Hay Jr., 72, of Berlin, went to be with the Lord May 13, 2023 at Meyersdale Healthcare and Rehab Center. Born Jan. 9, 1951 in Somerset, son of William Sr. and Margaret E. (Ryman) Hay. Preceded in death by parents, wife the former Ellen Fritz, and sister Linda M. Clarkson. Survived by children: Jeremy W. (Susan) Hay and Jennifer B. Gilmore; grandchildren: Noah and Micah Gilmore, and Lucas, Jacob, and Isaac Hay; sister Sherrie L. Hay; mother-in-law Emily Fritz; and friend Carol Fisher. He was a 1969 graduate of Somerset High School and a proud U.S. Army Vietnam War Veteran. His love for his country and service continued throughout his life, as he frequently attended veteran’s gatherings and events. He was a retired corrections officer. Member of Berlin Brethren Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon. William was especially passionate and proud of his friends and family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. William also loved his pet beagles and cats over the years. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Berlin Brethren Church. Rev. Tom Sprowls officiating. Interment Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
