Charles Edgar “Charlie” Berkley, 84, Friedens, died April 10, 2017 at Somerset In Touch Hospice House. Born June 26, 1932 in Friedens, son of Irvin and Minerva (Bittinger) Berkley. Preceded in death by parents, brother Earl, and sisters: Maybell Lint, Hilda Smith, and Beatrice Keith. Survived by his wife of 59 years the former Barbara Gorsuch; children: Brian Berkley, Uniontown, and Tambra Sue married to Paul Moore, Friedens; grandchildren: Brittany and Brandon (Melissa) Moore; great granddaughter: Emma Moore and another due any day; sisters: Ruby Buchanan, Blanche (John) Phillip, and Myrtle (Bill) Kennell; and brother Paul Berkley. He was a Korean War Navy Veteran having served as an Engineman aboard LST 980. Retired truck driver from Highland Tank with 28 years service, and former meal deliverer for Area Agency on Aging for 10 years. Member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Somerset American Legion and V.F.W., and former member of Somerset F.O.E. Aerie 1801. Family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Friedens Lutheran Church. Rev. Edward V. Devore officiating. Interment church cemetery. Graveside military rites by Somerset Co. Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to Friedens Lutheran Church, 131 S.
