Ralph Edward Browning, 85, Stoystown, died Jan. 23, 2017 at home. Born July 28, 1931 in Bedford, son of Ford and Ercie (Judy) Browning. Preceded in death by parents, son Donald, daughter-in-law Gina, brothers: Allen, William, and Walter, and sisters: Margaret Smith and Carole Leonard. Survived by his wife of 60 years the former Grace Samuels; sons John, Stoystown, and Edward and wife Karen, Newtown, Conn.; grandchildren: Tabitha, Angela, Jacob, Kristina, and Elizabeth; great grandchildren: Tyler, Ryan, Jaden, Jack, Trevor, and Gina; sisters Ann Spitz, Houston, Tx., Kathryn McNeal, Shanksville, Sharon (Blaine) Daniels, Cumberland, Md., and Laura Fleegle, Cairnbrook; and brothers: Donald Browning and Dale (Joan) Browning, both of Stoystown. He was a Korean War Army Veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. Retired from Carpenter Technology Steel Mill, Bridgeport, Conn. Member of Shanksville United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 8th at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Rev. John Hickman officiating. Military Honors at the funeral home provided by Somerset Co.
