Jeffrey L. Smiley, 65, Berlin, died August 6, 2015 at Somerset In Touch Hospice House. Born April 28, 1950 in Meyersdale, son of Patricia (Haer) and the late Blaine Smiley.
Survived by wife of 40 years the former Jane Knepper; sons: Jeffrey A., Jonathan P. and wife Jennifer, and Joel and wife Stephanie, all of Berlin; grandchildren: Nicole, Megan, Daniel, Nathan, Jillian, and Josie Smiley; and sisters: Joyce Waydo and husband Michael, Somerset, and Julie Richter and husband Michael, Meyersdale.
He was a 1968 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School and a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He was an aircraft mechanic and a licensed pilot who enjoyed flying his 1939 J-3 Piper Cub. Member of North Ridge Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren; trains, model railroading, air shows, antique cars and tractors, and classic country music.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at North Ridge Baptist Church, Friedens. Rev. Dan Zediker officiating. Interment Brotherton Pike Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the North Ridge Baptist Church, 651 Blackburn Rd., Friedens, PA 15541.
